1. Overview and scope
This policy applies to the DALANBEN website, iOS app, Android app, and the connected account, publishing, interaction, search, nearby-content, direct-messaging, and marketplace-display services. DALANBEN is published and operated by Sinodream Technology Co., Ltd., which is the controller or personal information handler for the service. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to that company.
Third-party websites, stores, and links posted by other users operate under their own policies. This policy does apply when a service provider processes information on our behalf as described in Section 5.
2. Information we collect and why
We receive information that you provide, information generated when you use a feature, information supplied by your device after you give permission, and results returned by our service providers.
2.1 Account, authentication, and security
- Account details: username, display name, profile image, biography, and the phone number or email address you choose to link;
- Authentication data: one-way password hashes, verification-code hashes and status, login sessions, and account creation and update times. We do not store passwords or verification codes in plain text;
- Third-party sign-in: when you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive a stable account identifier and any email address, name, or display name you authorize the provider to share. We do not receive your Apple ID or Google Account password;
- Account-security actions: verification records used for changing an email address or phone number, linking or unlinking sign-in providers, changing a username, and deleting an account.
We use this information to create and maintain your account, authenticate sign-ins, recover or update security details, prevent unauthorized access, and maintain sessions across our clients.
2.2 Content, interactions, and messages
- Content you create: post titles and body text, images, videos, media type, file size, image dimensions or video duration, tags, optional place text and coordinates, profile images, and profile information;
- Interaction records: likes, saves, share status, comments, replies, follows, mentions, activity notifications, and read status;
- Direct messages: conversation participants, text or image messages, send times, delivery status, and unread or read status.
We use this information to store, display, and distribute content; let you edit, delete, make a post private, or publish it; provide interactions, notifications, and messaging; and address content-safety reports and disputes.
2.3 Search, nearby content, and service requests
When you search or open a channel, we process the query, channel, page, and sort options needed to return results. In the current iOS and Android apps, recent searches remain only in the temporary state of the current app screen and are not uploaded as account search history.
When you open Nearby or choose to add your location to a post, we use the location supplied by your operating system to filter nearby content or attach a place to that post. A location used for a nearby query is not added to your profile. Only a location that you confirm while publishing is saved with the post.
2.4 Device, network, and service logs
To connect the service, secure accounts, troubleshoot errors, and limit abuse, we may process IP address, network connection status, device model, operating system and version, browser type, access time, request path, request identifier, response status and duration, failed sign-in or verification attempts, and error information. We do not use this information to create advertising profiles.
2.5 Local storage
The website stores the login token in browser local storage. iOS stores the login token in Keychain, and Android uses encrypted storage backed by the system keystore. The apps may also keep a session snapshot, interface preferences, and necessary cache data on the device to restore state and improve loading. Signing out, clearing site or app data, or uninstalling the app removes the corresponding local data, but does not by itself delete your server-side account.
2.6 Legal grounds and purposes
Depending on the law that applies, we process information because it is necessary to provide the service you request or perform our agreement with you; with your consent for optional location, media selection, or other optional features; as necessary to protect accounts, the network, and the community; to comply with legal obligations; or for another purpose we specifically explain where the law permits it. If we plan to use information for a new purpose that is not directly related to the original purpose, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required.
3. Device permissions and sensitive information
| Permission or capability | When it is used | Scope and your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Location while using the app | Opening Nearby or adding a location to a post | On iOS, the system provides precise or approximate location based on your choice. Android currently requests approximate location only. Other core features remain available if you decline. |
| Photo or video selection | Selecting a profile image, post image, or video | We process only the items you choose after opening the system picker. We do not read media you did not select. |
| Network access and status | Loading content, uploads, sign-in, and messaging | Used to provide online features and restore a connection when the network changes. |
Location, direct-message content, and account credentials may be sensitive information under applicable law. We process them only when needed for a specific feature, with appropriate safeguards and any permission or consent required by law. The current app does not request contacts, microphone access, background location, or access to your entire photo library.
4. Content visibility and public disclosure
Profile images, display names, biographies, posts, comments, and interaction counts that you make public are visible to other users and may be distributed through sharing links. A post set to “Only me” is available only to its signed-in owner. Raw post coordinates are not returned through the public content interface.
From a post’s detail page, you can edit or delete it and switch between “Only me” and “Public.” Do not include personal information in public content unless you want others to see it. Other users may lawfully save or reshare public content before you remove it, and we cannot control their independent use.
6. Retention and deletion
- Account and profile: retained while the account exists, then deleted or de-identified after account deletion. Information needed for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes may be retained with restricted use for the required period;
- Posts, media, and interactions: retained until you delete the relevant content or delete your account. Deleted backup copies may remain during the ordinary backup rotation cycle and are not used for normal business operations during that period;
- Direct messages: retained according to conversation functionality and messaging-service configuration. After you delete your account, messages already sent may remain visible to other participants to preserve their legitimate conversation history, but will be deleted, de-identified, or disconnected from directly identifying profile data as supported by the service and required by law;
- Verification codes, temporary authorizations, and sessions: expire after their security validity period or after use and are removed on the applicable system cleanup cycle;
- Service logs: retained only for a reasonable period needed for security review, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and legal requirements;
- Local device data: retained until you sign out, clear data, or uninstall the app.
The exact period depends on the category, purpose, risk, and applicable law. When the period ends, we delete or de-identify the information. If a legal duty prevents immediate deletion, we restrict processing to storage and necessary security protection.
7. Storage locations and international transfers
Our server database, media object storage, and related infrastructure use Alibaba Cloud and other services according to the current deployment. Apple, Google, Tencent Cloud, and Cloudflare may process information in different countries or regions as part of their service networks. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country or region where you live.
Where a transfer is regulated by applicable law, we assess necessity and use contracts, security measures, or other legally required safeguards. When required, we will separately explain the overseas recipient, purpose, data categories, and how to exercise your rights, and will obtain separate consent or complete another required legal procedure.
8. How we protect information
Our safeguards include HTTPS transport, one-way hashing of passwords and verification codes, iOS Keychain and Android encrypted credential storage, private object storage with short-lived signed access, server-side secret isolation, access controls, rate limiting, request auditing, and verification for sensitive account actions. We also limit service providers to processing necessary information for agreed purposes.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If an incident may affect your rights, we will take remedial action and provide legally required notice through an in-app message, email, website notice, or another appropriate channel, including relevant impact and recommended steps.
9. Your choices, privacy rights, and account deletion
Depending on applicable law, you may access, correct, copy, or delete personal information; withdraw permission; unlink a third-party sign-in; object to or restrict certain processing; ask us to explain our practices; or delete your account. Some requests may be limited by the rights of others, service security, and legal obligations.
- Profile and content: update your profile from Me, and edit, delete, or change a post between “Only me” and “Public” from its detail page;
- Permissions: turn off location in iOS or Android system settings. Media selection occurs only when you initiate it;
- Sign-in methods: update security information or manage a linked Apple or Google account under Me → Settings → Account & Security;
- Delete your account: go to Me → Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account and follow the verification prompts. This deletes the account and associated server-side data, subject to the limited retention described in Section 6.
If you cannot access the app, you may request account deletion or exercise another right from outside the app. Email support@dalanben.life from your registered email address and include your username and request type. If your account only has a phone number, include your username and a number where we can contact you. To prevent impersonation, we will verify the request using existing account-security information. Never send us your password or a verification code.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Withdrawing an optional permission stops the corresponding future processing but does not affect processing lawfully completed before withdrawal.
10. Children
DALANBEN is not designed specifically for children under 14. Minors should use the service with the consent and guidance of a parent or guardian. A child under 14 may provide personal information only after a guardian has read and agreed to this policy. If local law sets a different digital-consent age, that threshold applies. If we learn that we processed a child’s information without required guardian consent, we will promptly delete it or take another appropriate action. Guardians may contact us using the email below. See our Child Safety Standards for our prohibitions, reporting channels, and response process concerning child sexual abuse and exploitation.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, service providers, or legal requirements change, and will show the latest date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights or how we process information, we will notify you through an in-app notice, website announcement, email, or another appropriate method. We will request consent again where the law requires it.
